Human emotions are
universal, but their verbalization in the national language has its own features. The article is devoted to the study of the adjective
"positivny" (“positive”) which belongs to the near periphery of the synonymic row of Russian adjectives denoting an elevated emotional
state. The research analyzes the adjective as a reflection of the relevant fragment of the Russian linguistic view of the world. The article deals with the peculiarities of the adjective semantics, identifies the main characteristics included in the representation of this trait of personality in the Russian linguistic culture, studies the peculiarities of the adjective usage, grammatical parameters, as well as the evaluation of the adjective by native speakers of the Russian language. The research is based on data from lexicographic sources, the contexts of the Russian National Corpus and Internet sources, as well as the results of a survey of native Russian speakers. The result of the work is the identification of the stereotypical representation of a positive person in the Russian linguistic view of the world.
