The article researches revision of historical memory in contemporary Romanian cinematography. The analysis of Romanian new wave films shows Romania’s great attention to the problem of rethinking the past. In Romanian new wave films the most ambivalent events of Romanian history are depicted polemically, which proves the main thesis of this article. Romanian new wave cinema is an instrument of revision of historical memory.
