The proposed article attempts to investigate the value systems of English and Chinese speakers, and to study questions about the nature of values and their relationship to cultural, social and personal factors. The work explores the concepts, language and phraseological world image, identifies the priorities and values relevant to English and Chinese speakers and the peculiaritiesof their mentality. A comparative study of English and Chinese idioms can be an effective way of teaching. The analysis of the practical material showed that idioms, being an important part of the language and culture, reflectthe linguistic world image of the languages studied.
