The problem of the compensation technique formation is tackled in many scientific works devoted to teaching written translation. The originality of the article is in the fact that it analyses the translation technique of compensation from the viewpoint of the types of omitted information in whisper interpreting (chouchoutage). The paper aims to classify omitted information in whisper interpretting (chouchoutage). The findings indicate that the translation technique of compensation can be aimed at different components of the original statement, including precise information, communicative intention, modality and the orator’s particular style.
