The article deals with the conceptions of “new historical fiction” put forward by the leading Chinese, Russian and Western researchers. A comparative analysis of the main traits defined by the scholars is presented. The conducted research shows that the “new historical fiction” is a direct projection of the post-socialist cultural dynamics on the contemporary Chinese literary scene.
