The rhetorical technique Reductio ad Hitlerum is often used in the contemporary public discourse and testifies to the prevalence of aggressive "hate speech" and the polarization of disagreements. The report proposes a two-stage mechanism for analyzing reasonings that include this technique: analyzing and assessing the role of such reasoning in the dialogue, as well as the validity and correctness of the argument from the point of view of its structure. We propose to reconstruct the reasonings with Reductio ad Hitlerum as plausible arguments “ad hominem” and “ad consequentiam”, separating their dialectical use as arguments from invectives aimed at discrediting opponents.
