The article considers the reception of Plato by the Russian thinkers in XI-XVI centuries. The author shows that Platonism was unknown in Russia until the end of the XVII century with the exception of a few ethical ideas. Nevertheless, the name of Plato and his image existed in Russian Thought in this period, although it was determined by the Byzantine cultural tradition. The author makes an attempt to reconstruct this image and explain its complexity.
