E. V. Akhmadulin is a well-known researcher of the national journalism history and theory. The review of his scientific and educational works includes consideration of the methodology of retrospective research, concepts of periodization of the press, the principles of historicism and typological methods in the analysis of historical processes that took place in Russian journalism in one of the most difficult periods of its functioning. The role and importance of the scientist’s works devoted to studying the political parties’ press of Russia in 1905-1917, as well as textbooks on the history of national journalism in the twentieth century for students studying at the journalism faculties are highlighted.
