In the article of O.A.Gorodov, Professor of St. Petersburg State University, Doctor of Law (St. Petersburg, gorodov@inbox.ru) a new procedure for the consideration of an application for a patent for an industrial design, including the publication of information about the application and the establishment of temporary legal protection of the industrial design, is being evaluated. As a result of the analysis of the new rules and the explanatory note to the draft law, the author comes to the conclusion that it is inappropriate to publish information about the application and to establish temporary legal protection within a simple verification system of examination of applications.
