The paper presents the results of modeling fluctuations of transionospheric signals propagating under conditions of intermittent ionospheric turbulence. The phase screen method is employed to simulate field fluctuations. The intermittent phase distribution on the screen is generated using the non-Gaussian multifractal phase screen model, which is capable of simulating various degrees of intermittency, from its complete absence to quite significant. The results of study of the field coherence function revealed an increase in the coherence radius with an increase in the degree of intermittency. Calculations of the scintillation index showed a decrease in the index on the earth's surface with an increase in the degree of intermittency, which is consistent with the fact of an increase in the coherence radius. The results obtained indicate the importance of taking into account possible deviations of the turbulent fluctuations of the medium from the Gaussian random process.
