The article examines the manifestation of gender inequality in the professional career of women, understood in the scientific literature as a “glass ceiling”, manifested in modern society. Reveals the content of the phenomenon of "glass ceiling". Attempts have been scientifically made to explain the emergence and functioning of this phenomenon.
