Working on the Dictionary of the Everyday Russian Language of Muscovite Russia of the 16th–17th centuries, we regularly observe that in the works of Avvakum the words and expressions that existed in Russian at that time are not used in exactly the same sense as in other texts. This forces us to highlight the Avvakum examples with a sign of usage, accompanying their interpretation with the introductory mark “in Avvakum”, which is followed by the actual semantisation of the word or phraseological unit.
