The article deals with the first critical work by F.Pessoa, which allows revealing his philosophical and aesthetic views that determined the peculiar features of his creative manner. It analyses Fernando Pessoa's perception of classical and romantic art and the work of his contemporaries. The author has shown how this perception served the base of Fernando Pessoa's aesthetic doctrine.
