The article is devoted to the study of the ideological prerequisites of the reforms carried out by
Deng Xiaoping. The features of socialism with Chinese characteristics and its creation are considered. Despite
the fact that this theory had little chance of existence, Deng Xiaoping was able to convince that socialism with
Chinese characteristics would lead the PRC to success.
