The article deals with the pragmalinguistic characteristics of the English-language sociological discourse. The definition of sociological discourse as verbal communication between the subjects included in the field of professional activity is given, the factors that mediate the specificity of this type of discourse are identified, and its attributive features are singled out and described: spheres of functioning, standard participants, chronotopes, communicative strategies and speech tactics that are used by participants in professional communication in the field of social relations.
