The work presents an analytical review of the scientific literature and the authors' own views on the problems of nutrition of higher green plants and mechanisms of assimilation of various organic substances from soil, as one ofthe auxiliary ways of biosynthesis of organic compounds. Analysis of the scientific literature allows us to look at plant nutrition from the standpoint of revising the existing views on the functioning of the soil-plant trophosystem and to form a new scientific paradigm related to heterotrophic nutrition of higher green plants.
