The article is devoted to the theoretical study of proactivity in a career. The description of the external conditions that led to the development of new forms of career: socio-economic, organizational, labor, is presented. The personal and behavioral characteristics of proactivity, as well as the growing importance of their manifestation in a career are formulated. The subject of further empirical research in this area is discussed.
