The Crimea Peninsula is a unique site for investigation and development of the different branches of science. Complicated geology, contrast geography, variety of relief, rocks and tectonic structures, outcrops, occurrences of useful minerals, complicated hydrogeological conditions, very special biology with relict flora and endemic fauna, numerous archeological and historical monuments make Crimea the perfect tiaining site for students of various specializations. Scientific fieldtrips around Crimea is a part of the field training curriculum of the second-year students of the Geology Faculty of St. Petersburg State University. Students of the Soil department of the Biology and Soil Faculty also have a part of their field training here.
