N2 - In this paper we have thus calculated for the first time the vibrational relaxation rate of a molecular ion during collisions with atoms and the general features of the ion distribution over the vibrational states. These results show that in a weakly ionized plasma, collisions with atoms are important in determining the vibrational kinetics of Ne//2** plus ions.
