One of the major tasks set before Russian poetry in the early 1730s was the necessity of creating the Pindaric ode. There is a widely spread opinion that syllabic versification prevented from solving this task. However, as the analysis of Trediakovsky's odes undertaken in the following article, shows, the Pindaric ode could have been created with the help of syllabic versification.
