Experimental data are presented concerning investigation of the mechanical memory effect in titanium nickelide after complex temperature-deformation and force interactions. Mechanical tests were performed under the conditions of torsion and tension and varying temperature, degree and sequence of set deformation. It is shown that the shape recovery under heating of metal does not depend on the preliminary loading trajectory and repeats it. The recovery may proceed both along the shortest path in the deformation space and along rather complicated paths depending on conditions of preliminary deformation and heating. It is shown to be necessary to consider hereditary properties of media with the shape memory effect when constructing different models of thermomechanical behavior of metals with martensite transformations.
