The known function of the evolutionary conservative NXF1 (Nuclear eXport Factor) is the nuclear-cytoplasmic transport of the most mRNAs (Herold et al., 2003). On our data Dm NXF1 is involved in control of cell division (Mamon et al., 1990; Nikitina et al., 2003). There is the maternal effect some of the mutant alleles of sbr (Dm nxf1) gene on early embryonic mitoses in D.melanogaster (Golubkova et al., 2006). The most character disturbances in embryonic progeny of females, hemizygous for the mutation sbr10, are the asynchrony of the first cleavage divisions, variations in nuclear sizes, and “mitotic catastrophes”. The transcripts of the sbr gene are numerous in both ovaries and early embryos (Ivankova et al., in press). The lighter fraction of sbr transcripts disappeared after 2 h of embryonic development. In D.melanogaster the general early embryonic mRNAs is provided maternally. We conclude that the broad band of mRNA observed in early embryos (0-2 h) and ovaries is likely composed of two fractions.
