In 1995 geophysical investigations in the southern part of AP-1 geotraverse across the whole Barentsevomorskaya plate were completed. The entire profile links super-deep SG-3 well on the Kola peninsular (town of Zapolarny) and the base Hayes-1 well on the Franz-Joseph Land. The extent of the investigated part of the profile was 700 km. The integrated seismic experiment included off-shore and on-shore wide-angle reflection/refraction observations (reffered hereinafter as Deep Seismic Sounding - DSS) with 3-component bottom seismographs (BS) and air-guns and multichannel seismic reflection study (MCS) at different offsets ranges. Sufficiently dense deployment of BS (5-20 km ) and 250 m shooting interval provided a reliable phase correlation and wave identification.. Intensive reflections from Moho had been recorded practically continuously along the profile. The DSS data processing resulted in building the mid point dynamic reflection Moho image and produce general depth section. MCS data study allowed to trace boundaries in the sedimentary layer and the basement surface in the southern part of the profile. The works revealed the main structures of the Barentsevomorskaya shelf plate down the whole thickness of the crust. The lowermost observed boundary is Moho located at depth between 35 and 40 km. The thickness of sedimentary cover varies from zero in the southern part of the profile to 14-16 km in its northern part. Results of geological interpretation confirm the continental crust type of the studied part of the Barentsevomorskaya shelf plate.
