The regional stratigraphic scheme of the Karelia-Kola region serves as the basis for the general Lower Precambrian scale of Russia. However, many problems associated with the Karelian stratigraphy are revised upon the appearance of new factual material. One of the most important, yet least developed problems of the Upper Archean (Lopian) stratigraphy is the relationship between supracrustal greenstone complexes and their basements. Usually, the Lopian basement and basal rocks lack reliably established relict structures of greenstone belts. Therefore, reconstructing the paleotectonic settings of the Archean volcanic belts' initial evolutionary stage is extremely complicated. The present work is devoted to describing the relationship between volcanic rocks and basement granitoids in the northeastern flank of the Lekhta structure, northern Karelia.
