The dependence of the brine content in sea ice was studied by the pulse NMR method over a temperature range from minus 2 degree to minus 35 degree C. The value of the content exhibits thermal hysteresis at temperatures between minus 20 degree and minus 35 degree C. Possible explanations for the hysteresis effect are suggested. The feasibility of employing the method for practical application is discussed.
