Structural and mechanical properties of Fe43.5Mn34Al15Ni7.5 (at.%) melt spun ribbons were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, dynamical mechanical analysis and stress-strain measurements. The obtained results revealed that the ribbons have a two phase structure consisting of α phase as the matrix and β phase as precipitates. No martensitic transformation was detected in the ribbons in a temperature interval from 100 to 450 K. Despite the absence of martensitic transformation, the Fe43.5Mn34Al15Ni7.5 melt spun ribbons demonstrated a response to external loading applied at room temperature which is typical for stress-induced martensitic transformations.
