In recent years scientific and practical interest has been attracted to metals and alloys with a submicrocrystalline and nanocrystalline structure, which is attributable to their extraordinary physical and mechanical properties. For example at room temperature they exhibit an unusually high level of resistance to plastic deformation and of other fundamental parameters such as the moduli of elasticity and shear. Superplasticity appears at relatively low temperatures and high deformation rates. The present paper is devoted to aluminum alloy 1420 that possesses a submicrocrystalline structure obtained by strain-heat treatment.
