The problem of population ageing is the subject of a wide discussion. The relations between generations in Russia are sophisticated with unrealistic social expectations, state policy failure in the last 20 years. The idea of “social exclusion of elderly” is new in the Russian sociology. The inner orientation for employment as an area for work satisfaction is characteristic for people with high education levels. The outer orientation related to the economical reason for employment is characteristic for less-skilled people with low education level, who more usually become a social services client. The Russian labour market offers quite a few jobs with a fl exible work schedule suited to people of around 70. To be employed for elderly people means to be socially included.
