N2 - The problem of stopping of a solid body when its circular area rests on a horizontal plane is considered assuming that the pressure is distributed according to the Hertzian law and the friction forces are characterized by orthotropic properties. The statement that the instant center of velocities is located at the stopping moment is verified. The obtained results can serve to simulate the motion of solids when they rest on a circular platform in order to solve contact problems when analyzing erosive wear.
