Spin-echo small-angle neutron scattering (SESANS) is an efficient method to measure particle sizes in real-space. In this paper we show some of the first measurements that illustrate the new possibilities of this new technique. The phase transition in a colloidal system from gas via liquid to solid can be directly identified from SESANS measurements. Processes in the preparation of dairy products can also be followed with the technique. Structures can be determined over three orders of magnitude in length scale, from 10nm to 7 μm. Measurements on oriented polymer fibres indicate that SESANS is also suited to measure anisotropic samples. These properties make SESANS a new powerful tool in the study of structural properties of materials.
