Consideration is given to methods, characteristics, and principal results of seismic investigations carried out by various expeditions to W Antarctica. A scheme is presented of profiles obtained by various methods of seismic exploration in the S Weddell Sea. Seismic refraction measurements and crustal rifting are discussed and illustrated, covering the Bransfield Strait, and the Ross, Sodruzhestvo, Bellingshausen, and Weddell seas.-from Current Antarctic Literature
