The paper begins from theoretical positions introducing such concepts as “recipient culture” and “donor culture.”
Then the paper regards more theoretical backgrounds of perception or formation of image of one culture (donor-culture) inside another culture (recipient culture). The first and the most important background of cultural image formation is a language of a “recipient culture.” All the people of “recipient culture” percepts any other culture with the terms of the native culture which may differ from the original and result in distortion of the true image of the “donor culture.” The paper gives some examples of such distortions of images of another culture as result of languages differences.
