Reference data on wind and wave climate of the Barents Sea, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Caspian Sea contain the calculation methodology and the information required for the correct classification of ships by navigation areas when developing the rules and regulations of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping to design ships and installations, to assess the navigating conditions, to plan the operations in open sea and on shelf, as well as to resolve other shipping-related matters. The data contained in this manual supersedes the appropriate sections of the reference data "Wind and waves in oceans and seas" that were previously published by the Register of the USSR (L.: Transport, 1974).
