A multifunctional automated system using pulse methods in field emission investigations has been described. Shapes of pulses of the microsecond range are analyzed in detail by recording and processing oscillograms. As a core of the system various computers may be employed. The system was successfully used in investigating the statistics of field emission, in studying diffusion, surface tension and kinetics of field emission. It is pointed out that field emission investigations are rather promising, and that, in case of using pulse methods, these investigations are NDA methods.
