A possibility for determining the ozone vertical distribution in the earth's atmosphere from groundbased measurements of downward atmospheric radiation in the spectral region of the 9.6-nm ozone absorption band is studied. A measuring instrument of the Fourier-interferometer type with a spectral resolution of about 0.2-0.5 cm-1 is considered. It is shown that satisfactory estimates of the potential accuracy of determination of the ozone content in the troposphere and the stratosphere can be obtained with the known profiles of atmospheric temperature and moisture content. The error in determination of the total ozone content is found to be 4-5% in the troposphere, 2-3% in the stratosphere, and 2-3% in the entire atmosphere.
