The parameters of surface and bulk processes involved in the interaction of hydrogen with polycrystalline nickel have been studied by the methods of thermal desorption and hydrogen permeability measurements. Taking into account the parameters of adsorption and diffusion, we have investigated the flux balance at the surface plane of a nickel membrane and have determined the temperature ranges within which adsorption and desorption are effective during the permeation of hydrogen through the nickel.
