The condition of the stable equilibrium at nonlinear bending of the ring is obtained. A thin elastic flat inextensional ring close to the circular one under action of the external normal pressure is studied. By using the asymptotic solution the ring deformation in its plane is investigated under the action of pressure which is close to the critical one for the circular ring.
