This chapter focuses on the distribution of the various structural types of possessive noun phrases (PNPs) with nominal possessors in the modern Balkan languages and dialects. Three semantic types of constructions are analysed: referring to legal ownership, kinship relations, and body-part relations. We try to reveal contact-related patterns existing in Balkan languages alongside inherited models and internally motivated innovations.
