The paper presents a publication of the archival photographs of the wall paintings in the churches of Parkhali and Ishkhani in Tao. The photographs were made by the 1917 expedition of Nikolai Okunev and are now kept at the Photographic Department of the Scientific Archive of the Institute for the History of Material Culture in St. Petersburg. These wall paintings so far have been known to the scholars only in general from other descriptions and photographs. During the past century, the wall painting of Parkhali have been white-washed, whereas those at Ishkhani have been lost to a large extent. Basing on the materials of Nikolai Okunev's expedition the authors suggest a more complete and accurate reconstruction of the iconographic program of the two ensembles.
