A variant of the more general theory of Gibbs elasticity for thick and thin liquid films was formulated. It is shown that this theory can interpret a maximum of the foam stability near the critical micelle concentration of surfactants. The theory constructed analogously to the case of thick films was based on the thermodynamic method of two separating surfaces. It is established that the stability of films providing by the elastic modulus is an important factor of the foam stability.
