An approximate model of homogeneous isotropic random field in R₃ is considered that can be used for its modeling. It is shown how the model parameters could be found that provide required accuracy in the rms sense. Examples are given for modeling gaussian fields on the surfaces of an ellipsoid and a cylinder.
