The temperature kinetics of martensitic transformations in a skeleton-type TiC/TiNi composite with micron-sized structural constituents was studied. The composite is fabricated using a unique technique. Heat treatment and a change in the chemical composition of the titanium carbide are shown to affect the transformation temperatures. This effect is related to the redistribution of the chemical elements between the carbide and metallic components of the composite; as a result, the titanium nickelide becomes enriched in nickel.
