A new species (Manica shanyii He et al., 2024) from China has recently been described, which was the first documented appearance of the genus and a new species in China. In this study, the key features of M. shanyii are compared with Manica species and the related genus Myrmica Latreille, 1804. Morphological features are demonstrated here, which makes it possible to divide two close genera Manica and Myrmica.
