Fast magnetic reconnection in a compressible plasma was investigated. Magnetic flux tubes were reconnected by a dissipative electric field pulse. The linear wave problem was solved in terms of the reconnection induced sources which move in different directions and with different speeds. The time-coordinate representation was given in the form of convolution integrals.
