The authors have determined the dependence of the linear tension of a three-phase contact on the position of the dividing line. This was determined by the intersection of the dividing surfaces for the lens at the boundary between the two phases or in a homogeneous medium. The authors also show that while for the straight lines of a three-phase contact the major problem of the theory is estimation of the magnitude of the linear tension for curved lines of a three-phase contact the major problem involves finding the distance between the lines of tension of and the lines of intersection of the surfaces of tension and the quantity d kappa /dr related to this distance. Such a problem may be posed only within the framework of the molecular theory.
