Paleoecological features of the genesis of gray forest soils at the northwestern margin of Vladimir opol'e are studied. Their genesis is controlled by paleoclimatic conditions, relief development, and specifics of soil-forming deposits. Gray forest soils have been preserved among soddy-podzolic soils due to the high content of carbonates in parent rocks and the hardness of perched and ground waters.
