The article observes the great contribution of the outstanding Spanish
scientist Julia Sevilla Muñoz to the modern paremiology and it’s importance for
the Russian Hispanism. The paper analyses the most significant for the Russian
paremiological studies aspects of her scientific activity such as: classification of
paremias suggested by Julia Sevilla Muñoz which includes the whall theoretical
problematic connected to this group of stable expressions; the questions of translation of paremias; created under her leadership the Multilingual Dictionary of
paremias which includes 20 languages and supports spreading the knowledge
about Spanich paremia fund and the contrastive studies of paremias in different
languages; scientific journal Paremia created by J.Sevilla Muñoz focused on the

development of theoretical base of paremiology and phraseology of different languages; creation of international project PAREFRAS orientated to the preservation
of fraseological and paremiological inheritance of different countried of the world.
