Plasmas have distinctive properties in the presence of dust gains and when an
electromagnetic (EM) wave passes through dusty plasma, effects of dust on the wave propagation must be addressed such as with reentry vehicle communications, microwave attenuation caused by rocket exhaust plumes, the Polar Mesosphere Summer Echoes (PMSE) phenomenon, and laboratory dusty plasma diagnostics with microwave, etc. For these reasons, the influence of dust
particles on the absorption of the EM waves in the gas discharge plasma is of particular interest. In present work the results of the study of the influence of dust particles on a wave propagation in glow discharge plasma by using the results of numerical simulation is presented.
It is well known that plasma conductivity and dielectric permittivity is determined by the dissipation of the field wave energy in collisions with electrons. The contribution of ions as heavy charged particles (including charged dust particles) in plasma conductivity and dielectric permittivity can be neglected. However, for the calculation of electron conductivity and dielectric permittivity we need to know the electron distribution function (EDF), which determines by different elastic, inelastic, and Coulomb collisions of electrons with different charged, excited and neutral particles. For this reason, contribution of the dust particles to the conductivity and dielectric permittivity can be associated only with their Coulomb collisions with electrons. The frequency of such collisions is Z times (Z À 1 is the charge of dust particles) higher than the frequency of Coulomb collisions of electrons with electrons and ions where Z = 1. Therefore,
influence of dust should be taken into account only at their high charges and low electron temperature. In other cases the influence of dust particles on the plasma conductivity and dielectric permittivity on EM wave propagation in gas discharge plasma can be neglected.
