A problem of spall fracture based on the incubation time criterion is considered. The detailed technique of obtaining the temporary dependence of spall strength is presented. It is shown that the time dependence of spall strength should not be considered as the function of the material, but as a calculated characteristic. An essential dependence of spall strength on pulse parameters is shown. The explanation of some effects of spall fracture observed in a number of experiments is given.
