The study focuses on the development of depressed regions. Based on the analysis of the textile industry development in one of the depressed areas of th Ivanovo region, it was concluded that in order to realize the strategic prospec the region, it is necessary to analyze the activity of large, medium and small businesses, identify existing problems that hamper the sustainable developm specialization industries in the region and take this into account in determin directions of regional policy. A system of indicators for analyzing and monitor the activities of enterprises in the region has been proposed and tested.
